Today, birthdays are joyous occasions that include treats, cake, and tons of fun shared by close family and friends. In the past, it was not such a joyous occasion. Many years ago in some areas of the world, a person feared their birthday. People were fearful because it was a day that people believed that evil spirits could harm you.
Birthday parties were originally thought up as a way to keep evil spirits away by having friends and loved ones with you. Everyone brought food to share and much noise was created to scare off the evil spirits that may be hanging around the house.
Over the years the birthday party become a more common occurrence. Cakes were made for the birthday person and fortune tokens were hidden in the cake for the guests to find. Most believe that children’s birthday parties originated in Germany and were called Kinderfeste.
Over the years, the art of throwing birthday parties went from a small party to more elaborate parties. Now parties are not just limited to being held in the home. There are many birthday facilities available for a family to rent for a few hours where guests can come and enjoy a specific activity along with the birthday food and cake.
A banquet hall can be rented to accommodate a big guest list and to have a catered meal. For children, renting a gym or swimming pool facility will allow the children to swim, play basketball, or participate in other active sports before settling in to eat the cake. For a birthday person with a specific hobby like art, a facility can be rented so that specific hobby can be enjoyed by all guests.
