We Make Birthday Cakes Together!

We Make Birthday Cakes Together! by Merridith Townsend

My husband and I have a dirty secret. It’s sordid. It’s embarrassing and it’s simply not the pinkish ears of the innocents. At night, when the kids are in bed and the lights are dimmed…we make birthday cakes together.

Our obsession started when our son developed an interest in fire trucks before his third birthday. He’s always been a terrible sleeper and having exhausted all other methods of helping him sleep, we had turned to watching cake-decorating shows on Youtube. It worked every time and allowed us to enjoy our nights without meltdowns or hysteria. It also sparked an intense desire for a fire truck cake in his little brain. Because we are on a very limited income, we decided to make him one as a present.

One night, we pooled my three years of fine arts in university with his seven years of graphic design training and sat down to create the mother of all fire trucks. It was a great deal of fun. We sat in our kitchen until much past our bed times and molded parts out of fondant. We dyed and rolled and pounded until we were satisfied. Our son, Holden, was satisfied too as was the other eager toddler boys at his party. By the time the celebration was over, we had received plenty of compliments as well as a request for a Thomas Train cake from my sister in law.

Something changed however, when we set about making our Thomas Train cake for my nephew. We had the fondant, the food coloring, the loaf cakes and a veritable sweet shop of candies but for some reason it wasn’t as fun. We labored over the parts and were wrought with anxiety when we tried to assemble our lopsided little engine. It didn’t look right. The wheels were too big, the color was off and Thomas’s face looked as if he had suffered a terrible burn. Sadly, all I could think of when we were making the Thomas Train cake was the ferry ride over to their house and how desperate my sister in law had seemed to have it arrive in one piece. I amused myself by imagining dropping it on the way to the birthday table or tripping and chucking it into the Pacific Ocean on the way over. Morbid imaginings aside, this time, working late into the night was actually exhausting and when we were done it was a relief.

What had changed? What had made something we had so much fun doing initially become such a dull endeavor? Making my son’s cake was a labor of intense love. Not that my brother’s child isn’t close to my heart, but when you are anticipating the look on your own child’s face it makes the work seem effortless. My husband and I came to the conclusion that making these cakes had to be our secret. We had to keep in it the family like some sort of Mafioso movie or we’d start to dread every holiday as it approached. Of course, if someone asks us for an adult themed cake, we’d probably make an exception!

If you are searching for engaging, yet simple, children’s toys, look no further than Thomas the Tank Engine. Thomas & Friends Trains and Tracks carries a broad range of Thomas wooden toy trains designed to build social, motor, and cognitive skills in young minds. Our growing collection of Thomas wooden toy trains is sure to meet all your wooden railway needs!

Should I Wish My Ex a Happy Birthday?

Should I Wish My Ex a Happy Birthday?
By Dan K. Jenkins

Should I wish my ex a happy birthday, or not? Good question. I think the answer has to be based on the answer to a second question which you need to ask yourself: “Does my ex hate me?”

You probably have a pretty good idea of how your ex feels about you. If, when you’re honest with yourself, you have to admit your ex hates you, then the answer is no, you should not wish your ex a happy birthday. In fact, you shouldn’t communicate with your ex at all, until you have reason to think those hateful feelings have changed. Saying happy birthday to an ex who hates you and doesn’t want to hear from you is not a way to accomplish getting back together, if that’s what you’re after.

But otherwise, yes — go ahead and wish your ex happy birthday. Just, don’t do it in a manner that is too aggressive. For example, don’t show up out of the blue at your ex’s home, just to say happy birthday. Don’t use an ex girlfriend’s birthday or ex boyfriend’s birthday as an opportunity to stalk.

If you are thinking about your ex’s birthday in advance, it would be really nice to send a card. Sending a card communicates some positive things about you. It says, “I’ve got my act together, and I planned ahead.” And it says, “I’m not desperate to talk to you.” It makes you look like you’re in control.

If today is your ex’s birthday (or there isn’t time to send a paper card), and you are likely to see your ex in person when you’re just following your normal schedule, then say happy birthday when you get the chance. Otherwise you can send a text, or email an e-card, or call.

Calling is tricky, though, because you only want to call once. If your ex answers, good, but if not, you need to leave a message. Even if you know your ex doesn’t check messages, leave a message anyway because this is the only call you get to make. If you hang up without leaving a message, you can’t call back because you don’t want your ex to think you called multiple times.

Only you can decide if calling is worth getting an opportunity to have an actual conversation with your ex. If you haven’t talked to your ex in a long time, then calling is probably worth the possibility of your ex not answering the phone, but knowing that you called.

Calling more than once makes you look desperate. So leave a message, and hope you get a response. If you don’t get a response, I think you should send a “belated” card, rather than calling again.

Should I Choose Birthday E-Cards Or Traditional Cards?

Should I Choose Birthday E-Cards Or Traditional Cards?
By Gino Hitshopi

Birthday ecards have started to make a significant dent into a market that used to be largely controlled by companies that made traditional cards of the paper variety. Now though, the advent of certain technologies has meant that birthday ecards have become more popular. In this article we’ll examine why some people choose them in preference to traditional cards, and why the traditional card still holds a significant amount of merit for many people.

The paper card that many of us still receive each year is something of a decoration in itself. The birthday setting is commonly composed of birthday cards, and the person whose birthday it is often feels that they need to show they have not been forgotten by their relatives. The traditional card therefore promotes this idea - physical proof, if you will. Birthday ecards do not have this quality, as the proof remains on the hard drive of the person who is marking another year passing, which many people would agree does not have the same effect.

Both birthday ecards and normal cards have a certain amount of cost associated with the. Which one you choose really depends on how many cards you intend to send. If you choose the ecards route you will usually have access to a great many ecards. It is usual for the customer to pay for a subscription and then have access to as many ecards as they need. If you send a lot of birthday or Christmas messages then it might be a wise decision to purchase a subscription to one of the many companies that offer such a service.

The traditional card also has certain unavoidable costs associated with it; you have to purchase the card - after an often lengthy process of choosing it - which costs money, and then you have to pay for the postage. These are not huge costs but they do make the process more difficult; and when you add the possibility of finding and adding an address to the envelope, you begin to see why some people who have busy lives prefer to buy birthday ecards instead.

There are distinct advantages to both of these methods of sending messages to people on what is an important time of the year. Ecards have come a long way and there are some truly impressive examples available - whether you are looking for humorous, romantic or non-descript. Equally, traditional cards also have these attributes.

Free Birthday Ecards And Hoping For The Best

Free Birthday Ecards And Hoping For The Best by Calvin Patel

I’m one of those people who can’t remember when my friends’ birthdays are. I’m lucky if I remember when someone in my family has a birthday. Most people understand and accept that, but sometimes it can get tricky if I can’t even manage to send off some kind of happy birthday card.

Not too long ago I was in that situation again. Someone I knew had a birthday coming up. This little bit of information occurred to me the day before it actually arrived, and I knew I was going to be in trouble if I couldn’t put something together fast.

Just like so many others ahead of me, I turned to the Internet in my time of need. I was sure there would be a lot of ideas for a cheap or fast gift. Surely there would be some convenient instructions for making a simple happy birthday card or, in the worst case scenario, instructions on how to offer the most sincere apology ever heard.

As I searched around I came across a site that offered free birthday ecards. I had both seen and received these in the past, and at the time I really wasn’t all that impressed by them. For some reason’ cartoon puppies barking the Happy Birthday song - in the middle of my office - just didn’t really appeal to me.

Nevertheless, I was in a desperate situation so I looked a little closer at the free birthday ecards that they listed on the site. These were a little better than what I had received back then. There were now a lot more options and I thought there was actually something she might enjoy.

This site offered a full range of cards that were more than cheesy animations and electronic sounds. Sure, those were part of it, but this site let me customize the card until I knew it was something she would like. In this case I took the free birthday ecard and embedded a YouTube video in it. It took a while to find the right one, but the sight of a poor, but excessively cute, dog staring at the camera with huge eyes should hopefully be enough to placate things between us. And then I tagged an happy birthday message onto the end that was a little more upbeat.

But one never really knows what will happen until you actually send it. And I understand that emails aren’t the most personal form of communication, but at the same time there was a good chance that such a personalized message could win me points.

This is clearly not the same as sending flowers or jewelry, but I did have to put in some time and effort to get the right one. I don’t know if she’ll consider free birthday ecards the equivalent of those other things, but it’s the thought the counts. And if it’s not, it should be.

It may not always be the best option, sending someone you care about a free birthday ecard is a great way to show them that you thought of their birthday. You can also schedule them in advance just in case you forget. You can find plenty of great ecards online.

Ice Breakers For Children Birthday Parties

Ice Breakers For Children Birthday Parties by Dale Obrochta

When you are hosting a birthday party for your child you want to make it memorable and special for your little one and his or her friends. Children are very fidgety and when together you have to hold their attention. For kids birthday party you must ensure that the parties are fun so that the children are occupied. You need to plan and start off with some funny and enjoyable icebreaker games. The icebreaker is very important to let all the youngsters get to know each other and make new friends. In order to get a kids party started you should ensure that you pick one or two ice breakers for the party to get into full swing. The following are some popular ice breakers that you can adopt for making kids birthday party a runaway success.

1. The Secret Sticker Ice Breaker: You have to give the children a set of stickers and they must get rid of them by placing them secretly on other guests. If they are caught sticking the stickers they must get rid of one of the stickers from the party guest.
2. Human Bingo: Here you need to give each birthday party guest a sheet of paper that has 25 squares with a statement in each square. The examples of the statement can be rode a bike, seen a zoo, been to Disney Land etc. The birthday party guest must say yes to the statements and they must sign their names on the square. The first guest who gets all the answers done first wins a prize.
3. Icebreakers with Toilet Paper: You need to gather the guest in a circle and give them a new roll of toilet paper. The paper needs to be passed over without any instructions and each guest needs to tear a share of the toilet paper. They also have to write one thing about themselves and share it with the other guests. This is a fun icebreaker that you can use in kids birthday party.
4. Icebreaker with song lyrics: Here you need to select well known songs and write down several lines from each song. You need to cut the lyrics into half and place them in a box. The guests need to choose a single piece of paper and they need to find their partner with the remaining lyrics. In this icebreaker you need to select one song for every two guests.
5. Matching Ice Breaker Games: Here the guests are given one half of something and they need to speak to the other guests in order to find their matching halves. You can choose cartoon couples and write their names on pieces of paper and keep them in the bowl. The guests need to select a piece of paper when they arrive and they need to find the other half of their cartoon couple. You can write something like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, Mickey and Mini Mouse, Dennis the Menace and Margaret etc. This game is very interesting and also fun filled for your icebreaker for any kids birthday party.

It is a gift that proves you are thoughtful, in a similar way that a piece of birth gemstone jewelry would. First, the month of June offers a kind of flower that will satisfy a large number of folks. June’s flower is the rose, one of the most famous in the world. Birthday Party Rentals - Bouncing N Cash

Birthday Party Rentals - Bouncing N Cash by Tyronne Jacques

I can honestly say that I did not get into the party rental business just for the cash, however I was fully aware of the earning potential of this industry prior to investing. Here is the absolute best reason for owning an inflatable rental business, at the end of the day the equipment is coming home with me. No matter what the customer paid for the daily rental it’s just that, a rental.

Now I am now encoraging you to gauge your customers, whatever your local market demands for your services is where you should be. What I would like for you to focus on is how to maximise each and every sale you get. When a customer has decided to rent one of your castles for a day you now have something no other rental company has, their undivided attention. It’s obvious that if the customer selected your rental operation then they must consider you worthy of their hard earn dollars. There is nothing wrong with up-selling, or suggestive selling in order to ensure that you have not left any money on the street.

One of the strategies I use in order to make sure that I have provided my customers with a full rental service for their event is to offer package specials. Package specials are great for totally booking out your entire inventory. A customer may have called you for a castle, and you are in the castle business therefore you can service them, but what about a face painter to go with the castle? Let’s build the package another way, let’s say we take a dozen balloons, the face painter, the castle, and tie it together as a special promotion. Now we have just tapped into the party supply business with the balloons, and at the exact same time we’ve grabbed a small portion of the children’s entertainer market.

The reality is the customer will most likely spend money on those exact forms of entertainment for their party, but the only difference is they did not rent those items and services from you. In the inflatable rental business we have such a unique advantage being that we are most often the first call a customer will make as they begin to plan their party.

One of my favorite customers once said to me “I like to get your part out of the way first, because you always cause the most damage to my wallet”

What he was in fact saying was the castle part of his budget represented the higher ticket item. What I later discovered one day when I was picking up his unit at the end of the party was I may have represented the highest ticket item, but there were four other vendors that serviced this same party. I was in fact leaving about $280 on the street, as a result leaving money available for my competitors to share. I am a very nice guy, but no way am I in business to make sure my competitors are booked out as well.

The are a few services that you can add to your rental operation that will produce some big time revenue if you concentrate on packages. Listed below are a few of the party packages that we have had great sucess with over the years.

1. Castle & Balloons Delivered - This required a helium tank rental and that’s it. Being that we were already schedule to deliver the castle it required no additional effort to deliver the balloons. This special would run $149 in my market which is saturated with rental companies.

2. Castle, Balloons, Face Painting - The best part about this special is you can book 5 reservation a day with one team, which means that if you have 10 units you can sell this promotion 10 times. I would normally charge $229, and it only required two teen age girl’s to handle the face painting.

3. Castle, Balloon, Face Painting, Cotton Candy - One again if you have 10 units then you can sale this promotion 10 times. I would send a server to handle the cotton candy machine, while the face painter is in action for one hour only. I would normally charge $309 for this promotion.

The main point I am trying to drive home here is do not leave the money available for your competitors, max out the customer’s budget with your services. If the customer chooses not to get the other items and only has interest in the castle, just know that it’s not because they did not have the money, you simply failed to give them a reason to spend it. The good news is I will give them the perfect reason to spend it with my rental business, if you fail to do so. Do not leave any money on the street, because I will pick it up.

Welcome to Bouncing-N-Cash.Here you Can find different inflatable bouncers for sale like castels, waterslides, tents and party rental business for hot deals

How To Select Children’s Designer Clothes For Your Niece’s Birthday Party by Gene B. Pineda

Pretty little girls deserve pretty little dresses. If you are planning to give a dress to your niece for her birthday, consider giving her one or a few lovely children’s designer clothes.

Yes, children’s designer clothes can be a bit more expensive than ordinary clothes but since it is your niece’s birthday, the least that you can do for her is to give something that will surely make her very happy. Choosing the Right Dress

Before you hit the mall or the department stores to find suitable designer kids’ clothes for your niece, make sure that you know your niece’s clothes size. Remember that kids tend to grow at amazing speeds so if you have not seen your niece for months, you better think twice about picking out a dress for her.

To make sure that you do not get her a dress that is a few sizes smaller, take time to see your niece and find out how big she has grown. If you happen to live far from your niece’s home and you do not have the opportunity to see her, a call to her parents should give you all the information that you need.

Once you know your niece’s dress size, you may now go shopping for that lovely dress. To save time, energy and money, shop online.
