Birthday Balloons - Send a Balloon Bouquet Or Arrangement

Birthday Balloons - Send a Balloon Bouquet Or Arrangement
By Sarita Haines

Birthday balloons make a big impression in any size, shape or color. You may want several dozen helium-filled balloons for a surprise party, or select one or two balloons to accompany a flower arrangement. In either case, buoyant birthday balloons represent a special occasion and always delight the recipient.

Balloon Bouquets

Birthdays balloons are often presented in a “bouquet” of up to 15 balloons and will elicit a “Wow” from guests. They are a combination of mylar (the foil-like balloons) and latex. Typically the mylar balloon has “happy birthday” messaging, while the remaining latex balloons are in solid, complimentary colors. Having this mixture is not just festive. It looks professionally planned, especially when the colors match the rest of your party decor. Bouquets are usually secured with ribbon at the bottom and start at around $20 dollars.

Balloon Arrangements

If a balloon bouquet isn’t the type of statement you’re looking for, you can also get one or two mylar birthday balloons as part of a flower arrangement. In small or large sizes, they’re a festive addition to a flower bouquet without taking up as much space. Similarly, you can include a birthday balloon with a chocolate lover’s gift basket, stuffed animal or flower cake.

Self-Inflating Balloons

A new innovation is self-inflating balloons. When transporting a dozen helium-filled balloons isn’t feasible, or you don’t want to blow them up on your own, you can now send a large mylar balloon that inflates automatically when an envelope or gift box is opened. It makes a great surprise and includes a base that anchors the balloon while it floats gently on its own.

Where To Find Birthday Balloons

Sites such as FTD.com or 1-800-Balloons.com offer birthday bouquets for any age or theme. Party supply stores tend to have a larger variety of mylar balloons. For example, on a first birthday, you can find mylar number one-shaped balloons. Or for the sports fan’s birthday, try mixing balloons from their favorite sport into the bouquet for some extra personalization. Toy stores and card shops will also carry bags of multi-colored latex balloons.

Horse Birthday Party Ideas to Help You Create the “Mane” Event!

Horse Birthday Party Ideas to Help You Create the “Mane” Event!
By Elizabeth Chastain

Stop horsin’ around and start creating a memorable horse birthday party for your little wranglers that they are sure to enjoy. Check out our ideas for invitations, decorations, and party games to help make your equestrian celebration shine!

INVITATIONS

Using a die-cut horse or horseshoe as a pattern, cut these out of tan cardstock to form your invitation. Using a gel pen, write out your party details in calligraphy. On one side write, “Gallop! Don’t Trot on Over for a Rootin’ Tootin’ Wild Horse Birthday Party! On the reverse side, write all of the following party details:

Big, Bad Birthday Roundup On: (date and time of party)
Meet Us At The O.K. Coral Located At: (address of party)
R.S.V.P. To The Stable Boy/Girl: (parent’s name & phone #)

HORSE BIRTHDAY PARTY DECORATIONS

Using a little imagination, creativity, and lots of horse-themed decorations, ya’ll be able to rope in your little fillies and colts in no time. We reckon some of the following decorations will strike your fancy:

  • As guests arrive, send them over to the branding station where they will be identified as V.I.P.G.’s (Very Important Party Goers) with a special “branding” iron. Use rubber stamps or tattoos.
  • Decorate ceilings with 2 different colored twisted streamers and clusters of balloons with curling ribbons.
  • Use horseshoes as a balloon weight to display floor balloon bouquets throughout room.
  • Cover your party tables with burlap and sprinkle strands of hay on top, like you would confetti, and tie off the corners using licorice laces.
  • Create a Bryer horse display in the center of your table using a few horses, along with some mini hay bales, fencing, and horse tack. Attach a bouquet of balloons in the center.
  • HORSE BIRTHDAY PARTY GAMES & ACTIVITIES

Hold your horses! We reckon it’s time for some horse play!

Horseshoes - For older kids use real horseshoes and for younger kids use plastic or rubber horseshoes or make horseshoe rings from rope.

Stack Them Cubes! - Each wrangler has a pile of sugar cubes. When you say “Giddy-up” wranglers race to build the tallest stack of sugar cubes in a timed period.

Horse Race - Create a life-size “game board” in your yard using carpet squares. Lay them out in a Candyland Game fashion. Add a few obstacles like saw horses, galvanized buckets, bales of hay, etc. then have all your horsies (guests) compete to the finish line. Write numbers 0-3 on index cards, along with a command like gallop, trot, run, canter, whinny, neigh. As the cards are drawn, they move forward the number of spaces on the card, while performing command. For example, move forward 2 spaces while trotting.

    Have fun! Yippie-Ki-Aye!

Here Comes Christmas, Celebrating The Birthday of Lord Jesus Christ on 25th of December

Here Comes Christmas, Celebrating The Birthday of Lord Jesus Christ on 25th of December
    By Rita Jain

The time when the whole arena echoes with Christmas Bell and Churches resound with Carols and Mass. Exchange gifts with your friends and relatives and make your own delicious Plum Cakes along with variety of other Christmas Recipes. It’s the time when children get busy in writing letters to Santa Claus to get their wishes completed.

    Christmas Celebrations

Modern day celebrations of the Christmas Eve are characterized by exchanging gifts, attending masses, singing Christmas carols, giving Christmas cards to one another, display of various decorations such as lights, candles, mistletoe, nicely decorated Christmas Trees etc. Santa Claus who is also referred as the Father of Christmas is a widely recognized mythological figure who is thought of to get gifts for children on Christmas. Christmas festivities continue throughout the 12 days of Christmas and are symbolized by bright fires, the Yule log, exchange of gifts, carnivals (parades) with floats, carolers who sing while going from house to house, holiday feasts, and the church processions.

Origin of the Word Christmas Derived from Christs Mass

The word Christmas has been derived from the combined meaning of the phrase Christs Mass. The word Mass refers to celebration of the Catholic Church and Christs Mass refers to the celebration of the Catholic Church centered on Jesus Christ or the Son of God. Christs Mass has been derived from the phrase Christs mass, which finds its origin from Greek and Latin. The first word Christ has been derived from the Greek word Christos and Mass has been derived from the Latin word Missa. Christmas is often abbreviated as Xmas. This is because Chi which is the first letter in the word Christ is represented as X in Greek. Hence, the abbreviation Xmas was formed.

History of Christmas and the Birth of Jesus Christ

Prior to the 18th Century, Christmas was popularly believed to be the birth date of Jesus Christ. However, in the early 18th Century, many scholars like Isaac Newton, German Protestant Paul Ernst Jablonsky and many more started proposing other theories for the celebration of Christmas on the 25th of December. This was because the true date of the birth of Jesus Christ was not known as even the Bible has references to more than one date. Some believed Christmas Day to correspond with the winter solstice i. e the onset of winter.

Then there were others who believed that the day of Christmas was calculated as 9 months after the Annunciation (March 25) which according to Christian mythology is the day it was revealed to Mother Mary by the Angel Gabriel that she would conceive a child who would be born as the Son of God.

However, the fact is that the history of Christmas dates back over 4000 years to the ancient Mesopotamians. Many of our Christmas traditions were being celebrated centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ. The Persians and the Babylonians also celebrated a similar festival which was called the ‘Sacaea’. The celebration for the same included the exchange of places between the slaves and the masters such that the slaves would become the masters and the masters were to obey.

The Romans celebrated their festival which was called Saturnalia to honor their God Saturn. Saturnalia began in the middle of December and ended January 1st. The celebration included visiting friends, big festive meals, masquerades in the streets and the exchange of gifts. They decorated their halls and lit up green trees with candles. During this period also the masters and slaves would exchange places.

Saturnalia did not go well with the Christians as they didn’t want to honor a Non-Christian God. Initially, the Church forbid this kind of celebration but it was to no avail. Eventually, the Church decided that the celebration should be made fit for the Son of God, Jesus Christ. The Church was eventually able be make the Saturnalia festival unpopular by bringing the joy and cheer to the celebration of Christmas. The exact day of the birth of Christ is not known for sure. By the late 300’s, Christianity had became the official religion of the Roman Empire and by 1100, Christmas had become the most important religious festival in Europe and Saint Nicholas was a symbol of gift giving in many European countries.

    The Legend of Santa Claus

The modern day image of Santa has emerged from the ideas and the sketches of a famous cartoonist from 19t- . Thomas Nast. He drew a new image annually, beginning in 1863. By the 1880s, Nast’s Santa had evolved into the form we now recognize. The legend associated with Santa Claus says that he resides in the North Pole. Santa Claus lives with a large number of magical elves and flying reindeer, Rudolf the reindeer being the most famous with a Christmas Carol after him. He makes a list of children throughout the world and then delivers presents including toys, candy, and other gifts to them all on the night of Christmas. He accomplishes this feat with the aid of elves who make the toys in the workshop and the reindeer that pull his sleigh. Santa Claus is supposed to climb down the chimney to deliver the gifts to the children when they are asleep.

Christmas Tree - A Ravishing Charm

The Christmas tree plays an important role in the celebrations of Christmas and as s part of the Christmas traditions, it is beautifully lit and decorated with lights, candles, stars, balloons and other decorative materials along with edible goodies. It is also a tradition to hide all the gifts under a Christmas tree or inside a sock in the case of children and be distributed on Christmas Day. A Christmas tree is a beautiful sight and sparkles and shimmers with lights and other decorative materials.

    Christmas Food And Recipes

Christmas specialties includes apple cider, turkey, custard, candy, champagne, Christmas cookies, fruitcake, gingerbread, ham, hot chocolate, all sorts of pies like apple, pineapple, pumpkin etc. I am including a recipe to make delicious Christmas Cookies for all you Christmas lovers out there. These can be made with or without icing.

    The ingredients are:

    3 cups flour
    Teaspoon Baking Soda
    Teaspoon Baking Powder
1 Cup Butter at room temperature
    2 Beaten Eggs
    1 Cup Sugar
    1 Teaspoon Vanilla
    Teaspoon Salt

    For Icing (Optional)
    1 box Confection Sugar
Several Different Small Colored Bottles of food coloring

    Preparation:

Put all the dry ingredients together and mix them well. Similarly, mix the wet ingredients. Remember, both have to be mixed separately. Then combine all the ingredients well together and keep the batter in the refrigerator for minimum one hour. Take some amount of dough, not more than the amount that fits in your fist and flatten it with the help of a rolling pin on a to about a inch thickness. Then cut the dough in the shape you want. Bake for 5-6 minutes and watch the cookies carefully to see when they are of right color. Your cookies are ready to be enjoyed.

Writer’s Notes: The festivities and celebrations are the core love in my writing. This time I have come out with some detailed understanding of Christianity and the celebrations associated with Christmas, which I have tried to display through my article writing. Can enjoy more Christmas Festivities

Guinea Pig Treats - A Birthday Cake For Your Furry Friend

Guinea Pig Treats - A Birthday Cake For Your Furry Friend
    By Amanda Toop

    Birthday Cake

It’s your guinea pig’s birthday and how better to celebrate this special day than a custom birthday cake? Of course we don’t mean a fat and sugar laden human cake but rather a super tasty all natural fruit and veggie cake.

    What you will need:

An assortment of your piggie’s favorite fruit such as melons, apples, pears, berries, kiwi, apricot, peach, mango, or papaya.

Your piggie’s favorite veggies including sweet bell peppers, asparagus, cucumbers, corn, lettuces, kale, collard green, spinach, pea shoots, etc.

A binding agent to help everything stick together - this could be a puree of fruit or veggies to which you add some instant oatmeal or other whole grain of your choice.

Some healthy “candles” that you can insert into the “cake”- you can use baby carrots or asparagus as they are already the right shape. Another idea is to trim another fruit or veggie into the correct shape. Just make sure you do not use celery stalks as they contain threads that can get stuck in your guinea pig’s digestive system.

Healthy sprinkles - This can be chopped up herbs like parsley, basil or cilantro, or chopped up pieces of a colorful fruit like strawberries. Another option is a very small amount of cut up dried fruit like figs or dates.

    Instructions

    Step 1: Prepare Ingredients

Take your selected ingredients and chop approximately half into bite size pieces. Take the remaining ingredients and puree in the food processor.

Step 2: Prepare the Serving Plate(optional)

Decorate the plate with an underlayer of lettuce that you will then build the cake on top of. This creates a framing layer of ruffles.

    Step 3: Make the Cake

Option 1: Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and mold into a mound by hand. If your ingredients do not bind together, be ready to add in a little oatmeal to help everything stick together.

Option 2: You can get fancy and use a ring mold like five star chefs do. You can either buy a ring mold or use a small cleaned out tuna can that’s had its bottom removed. A biscuit shaped cookie cutter would also work. Simply gently create layers of fruit, veggies (by color would be attractive), and puree (if you wish.) Then gently lift the mold away. Note: This method may not support “candles.”

Option 3: Instead of hand molding the cake you could use a fancy dish or colorful ramekin. Just make sure the container is not easily breakable, unstable, or too tall.

    Step 4: Add Candles

insert your “candles” carefully into the top of the cake. If you wish you could also use wax candles for picture taking purposes. Just remember to remove them before serving and watch out for wax spills.

    Step 5: Finishing Touches

Sprinkle a layer of finely chopped herbs and or fruit on top of and around the cake.

You are now ready to celebrate!

Decorating For a Birthday Party With Mini Lights

Decorating For a Birthday Party With Mini Lights
    By Shellie Gardner

You’re planning another birthday party. You’ve been to the party stores and the department stores for paper decorations. The cake is ordered and the invitations have been sent. However, something is missing. The paper decorations alone just don’t seem to be enough. Why not bring a fun, festive and unique flair to your birthday party by decorating with mini Christmas lights? These easy to install light sets are the perfect addition to any party decor.

Decorating for birthday parties doesn’t have to be typical or boring any longer. Use your imagination to utilize Christmas lights in every way possible for your next birthday party. Here are a few ideas for incorporating mini lights into your birthday party decorations.

Does your daughter love to dress up and pretend she is a princess? Throw her a princess birthday party. Decorate the doorways with pink and white tulle. Then, intertwine pink mini lights around the tulle to outline the doorway. Continue the theme into the party room. Use the same idea to decorate the front of the buffet table and cake table. The gift table would look beautiful with pink and clear sets swagged around it against a pink tablecloth. Drape pink mini lights from the ceiling of the party room to add more color. Or, it would be simple to alternate crepe paper and mini lights across the ceiling.

Boys love pirates! Purchase or make a large treasure chest. Decorate it with orange or clear mini lights. Fill it with fake gems and treasures. Perhaps include the game prizes in here too. Are you really creative? Make a cardboard pirate ship in the front yard and deck it out with clear mini lights. This would be especially fantastic for an evening birthday party!

For a fiesta themed birthday party, decorate with our multi colored lights. Birthday parties for younger children aren’t the same without a pinata. Create a circle on the ceiling with festive colored lights like red, yellow and teal lights and then hang the pinata right in the middle of the circle.

Hang a curtain of multi color lights in the doorway where the children walk into the party room. Place a few blow-up cactus plants around the party room and use either multi or clear sets to wrap the cactus and pool some lights at the bottom of the pot. (Green also works great for this!)

A Sweet 16 birthday party isn’t complete without pink and purple mini lights decorating the doorways, windows, food table, and even the sidewalks leading into your home or into the party room. Create the number “16″ on a wall with a couple of sets. Perhaps put pictures of the teen growing up in and around the lit up number.

Decorating for birthday parties for people turning 40, 50 and older sometimes seem to always focus on black items. Why not approach those milestone birthdays a bit differently? Instead of “grieving” the birthday age, celebrate it! Use multi color mini lights or several individual strands of colored mini lights to decorate the party room.

Perhaps you’ve chosen antiques for your party theme. If your party area is large enough, bring in antique props, like red wagons and wooden wheelbarrows. The red wagons would look fantastic outlined or draped with red or clear twinkle lights. The wooden wheelbarrows would be so pretty decorated with clear lights. Use old-fashioned lamps on the food and dinner tables. Surround each one with battery operated mini lights for a beautiful effect.

Decorating for birthday parties with mini lights is a great way to create a party atmosphere that is a step above the others!

50th Birthday Party - How to Put Together a Great Over-The-Hill Party

50th Birthday Party - How to Put Together a Great Over-The-Hill Party
    By Mark S Myers

Even though 50 marks what many to consider the just the half way point in a person’s life-with the best yet to come–many people with a sense of humor like to celebrate it with an “Over the Hill” party theme. Here are tips how to put together a great “Over the Hill” 50th Birthday Party.

Before putting together an Over the Hill 50th Birthday party you need to be assured the birthday celebrant has a good sense of humor and will be okay with this type of theme. There may be embarrassing moments with decorations, games, food and gag gifts that are very funny but they all play to the person getting old.

    Gag gifts

Gag gifts for this type of a theme are a great idea. Think in terms of what people might need in their senior years and anything goes-adult diapers, fake false teeth, wrinkle cream, prune juice, pretend hearing aids….I think you get the idea.

    Decorations

An Over the Hill party is not complete without lots of black balloons. You can even buy balloons that have printed on them the saying “over the hill”. Be sure to accompany this with other items that are black like the table cloths, streamers, plates, cups, service ware. Gold is often a good color combination that can be matched with black so it looks somewhat like a party and not a funeral. Some funeral music playing in the background will help entering guests feel the tone and be fun.

    Games

You can have a lot of fun here if your guest of honor and guests are willing. Races where everyone participates using walkers can be a lot of fun. Another game where guests have to pop balloons with walking canes can be fun.

    Food

The cake for an over the hill party will be very thematic if it is shaped in a fashion that will signify how old the birthday celebrant is getting. Some creative cakes have been shaped as tomb stones or coffins. A creative cake design could be in the shape of feet hanging out from a covered body on the feet would be a tag that identifies the birthday guest of honor. Finger food and appetizers can also be served that have names of geriatric situations.

    Special Attire of Costumes

It can be fun to invite the guests tom come dressed in attire you might see an older person wearing: pants worn very high, suspenders, mismatching pants and shirt, tacky looking ties or bow ties, grey hair wigs or bald. Encourage your guests to bring along geriatric accessories if they have them, like canes, walkers, “help me I can’t get up pendant.”

    Entertainment

For a party like this often the best entertainment can come from the guests. Ask each guest to think about a funny situation or embarrassing moment that occurred in the life of the birthday celebrant. These should be sent to the party planner in advance. You can have someone read them at a certain time, you can have each guest read their own, you can make up a special recording and play it during the party.

Mark writes on a variety of topics especially party ideas and games. Here is where you will find some very useful help regarding 50th Birthday Party Ideas. In particular you should go here to get some more great ideas for 50th Birthday Party Decorations.
