Splurge and Rent a Limousine For Your Birthday

Splurge and Rent a Limousine For Your Birthday

By Warren Fets

Limousines are a well known form of transport for Presidents and Celebrities although they are a lot more than that and provide a multitude of transport services. I’ll show you some of the other ways you can take advantage of limos.

Limousine vehicles come in many different formats including the popular stretch limo which is basically a standard vehicle that has been professionally lengthened and fitted out with a range of luxury appointments. Outfitted inside a stretch limo can include leather seats and wood grain trim, a wet bar with your choice of alcohol, wine, or champagne, an ice chest or fridge, Plasma LCD screens with a DVD player, high end Audio systems, and even some with karaoke and video game consoles! Seating capacity depends on the vehicle and can range from 6 seats to 17 or more seats for the super stretch or limo bus style vehicles.

Sedan limousines, often referred to as a Corporate Car / Hire Car / Town Car, is a luxury vehicle with a seating capacity of 5 people including the chauffeur. Sedan limos are popular for airport transfers, corporate work and general transfers. A lot of people use sedan limos for there dependability (being picked up on time) and quality of vehicle and in a lot of cases the cost is very comparable to other modes of transport.

Limousine and Chauffeur Driven service companies sometimes specialize in one form of vehicle whether it be stretch or sedan and provide services especially for that market whereas some companies will provide a range of vehicle options which may include stretch, sedan, people movers like a Tarago or Voyager, mini buses and coaches.

Services provided and rates differ from company to company and generally include Weddings, funerals, formals/proms, corporate transfers, tours, airport transfers and general transfers. Some companies offer pre set itineraries for tours whether it be for winery tours, sight seeing tours, nightclub tours etc. or they can be as directed by you.

Rates are generally either charged by the hour or a set rate for the journey you are traveling. Some companies, in fact most, charge waiting time so if you leave the limo waiting it’s much like a taxi in that the meters running so to speak. Check with the operator as to how this applies.

Limousines are popular, especially stretch limos, for that wow factor needed to surprise and impress a loved one or for special occasions which chauffeurs will provide that extra level of service to make it really something. They are also a competitive and dependable form of transport for general transfers like from airport to hotel transfers or trips to the football or events.

Most limousine companies now offer a diverse and flexible range of services sometimes in a multitude of vehicle options added with high service levels. They also offer very high quality vehicles and with so many companies now you can get very competitive rates. There is absolutely not reason not to consider a Chauffeured Limousine service for your next transport requirements.

10 Tips For A Perfect Birthday Speech

10 Tips For A Perfect Birthday Speech

By Jennifer Oakley

Birthday celebrations often call for a birthday speech. It’s a moment when everyone around expects to hear a nice and well crafted speech. Often small mistakes ruin not only the speech but also the mood of the celebration.

Here are some things to keep in mind when you are about to deliver your birthday speech.

1. Your birthday speech should be clear, upbeat, optimistic and easily understandable by everyone around.

2. Don’t mention age of the celebrant in your birthday speech unless it’s a special milestone birthday like 21st or 50th. Some people like to celebrate every birthday but don’t like to disclose their real age.

3. Don’t say something that might embarrass the celebrant or the guests. The celebrant might not like the guests to know that he/ she has a snoring or a drinking problem. So be careful not to raise such issues in your speech.

4. Never tell a harsh and rude story of the celebrant. Birthdays are usually family events and the senior family members might not like whatever about the birthday boy or girl.

5. Refrain yourself from talking about sad moments or events. Birthdays are special celebrations of fun and joy and the mention of a sad moment will most likely kill the merriment. However there may be exceptions, but unless you are totally sure it’s always better to avoid anything that might awaken sad memories.

6. Don’t try to be too funny. Comedians are professionally skilled persons possessing excellent training and timing. Most of us are unable to write and deliver witty speeches. It’s always better to be light-hearted and genuine rather than trying to be a jester and spoil the fun.

7. Make sure that your birthday speech doesn’t offend anyone. Some things might seem obvious like friends flocking in only for a free drink or something but you should never ever insult any of the guests.

8. Never talk about deceased family members or friends unless the guest of honor does so or it is appropriate to say that the departed is surely there in spirit. Sometimes the bereavement is still fresh and it is always better to avoid saying such things than mentioning it and upsetting everyone at the party.

9. Never call the celebrant by his/ her pet name. A husband might not like all his office colleagues to know what he calls his wife by. Or a teenager might be thoroughly embarrassed to be called a mama’s boy. It’s okay of course to call him Jeff instead of Jefferson.

10. Avoid writing reams. The birthday guests are there to party, not to listen to you half-an-hour long speech. It would bore the hell out of them. A three to five minute speech is good enough.

All You Ever Needed To Know About Birthday Decorating

All You Ever Needed To Know About Birthday Decorating

By Sarah H

Whether the party is for a kid or for an adult one thing is certain, all birthdays are special! And planning a birthday party is harder than it sounds. It’s more than just making a guest list and buying the birthday boy or girl a present. It’s about making the day special as it should be, and memorable, and birthdays are the perfect time to show a person how much they mean. With all of those things in mind the next time you walk into a birthday party and see the lights, balloons, streamers or if you notice that the napkins match the plates, remember that someone spent a lot of time and money to get even the smallest detail right so that a loved one can have a great birthday celebration. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll be the one having to throw a birthday bash! So here’s everything you need to know about birthdays parties and decorating.

You know who your friends are and you know that family members will show up for the big day, so now you have an idea of how many people will be at this shindig. You call a caterer or visit the grocery store and get the things that you would like (and other too) to serve at the party. So within, give or take, two days you have gotten the easy parts done. Now it’s time to delve into the real trouble-maker behind any birthday party; decorating.

Now you may not think decorating is much of a big deal, after all they are just a bunch of streamers and balloons right? Wrong, every individual ornament or piece of decoration used usually contributes to the overall theme of a birthday party. And yes birthday parties, even ones for adults, have themes. And the theme you choose for the birthday party will help you determine what kind of decorations you will need, what style of decorations will compliment the area in which you are having the party and the color or combination of colors that the decorations should be.

At this point you should think about getting the most anticipated item of any birthday party and possibly the only decoration that a party cannot survive without, and that is the birthday cake. The cake can be as elaborate as you can afford or as modest, but what is most important is that the cake not only matches the other decorations and general theme of the party, but the cake should also reflect something of the birthday boy or girl.

Once a theme is chosen and you know the decorations you want to use, the next task is putting the decorations up in the most appropriate and flattering place. This may take a while and several opinions before the right spot is found for a particular set of decorations. But the work and decorating are not over just yet, because whatever food or candy you are offering your guests has to be conveniently available, as well as plates, cups and napkins. Remember, when serving anything edible always be sure to use clean dishes, and use dishes and serving trays that will make the food or snacks on them seem delectable.

Other negligible factors will depend solely on the age of the birthday person and the likes/dislikes of the same are dress code, alcohol, music (DJ or home stereo) and of course, the time the party is scheduled to start and its subsequent end. Above all, the ultimate goal is to ensure that the birthday person is having a great time and your guests are treated well. So birthday parties, though they often run smoothly and easily, are much more complicated than you might think, and the only reason birthday parties seem so easy to pull off on the surface is because someone is doing a lot of work below deck.

Best Birthday Party Ideas: A Birthday Idea Generator? How Cool!

Best Birthday Party Ideas: A Birthday Idea Generator? How Cool!

By Neal Lohse

The World is crying out for a Birthday Idea Generator

The Party Planning was going nowhere.

In sheer exasperation the hostess yelled:

“I don’t need your help, your money, or your advice. Just give me an IDEA!!”

Smiling, you handed her your Birthday Idea Generator. The tears of joy were instant.

A Birthday Idea Generator…what an idea.

An idea on its own will not guarantee you a cool birthday. We find people simply think that the idea will solve all their headaches. Or that the idea comes with a how to manual, unlimited budget and an army of workers at your command!

Some do, it’s true. They usually cost a bomb and take months to get together. Is that you? If so, read on it will be of use. If it’s not you, then READ ON WITH EXTREME INTEREST.

“Where did you get that idea from??”

It’s a great question! The answer is equally great, maybe a touch cheeky.

I farm them.

Huh?

Seriously. And by the time you have read this article you will be farming as well. Got your plough ready? Giddy-up!

In no order I think the following 10 methods of Farming Ideas work the best. I do this every week, so that when it’s time I’m ready.

1.Create an Idea Finder

This could be a ring folder, a journal, a blog or a brain dump page on a web site. The more 3D it is I find the better it is to show others and scratch additional info on. You can scribble, glue cut-outs, sketch, alter ads in papers, play with words, brainstorm gift ideas…and on and on. Whatever you need to help you remember that spark!. My favorite way is to have an artists sketch book 120pages, thick paper, spiral bound, $5. Every thought, idea, cartoon, concept, whatever!, goes in it. I’ll chew threw about 6 per year! Personalize it and make it part of your daily life.

2.Magazines

They are everywhere and the pages are full of ads or content done — usually — by professionals who get paid huge money to do this. Surf off their creativity and ability to put their ideas in graphic or text. Think about when you are killing time at the doctors waiting for an appointment, or at the mall in the food court. Down time is a goldmine!

3.Junk Mail.

Yep, you heard me correctly. Before it gets binned, scan it, consider it and file it. Total time: a minute or two tops! And you’ll get faster as your birthday idea generator brain recognizes what’s valuable.

4.Look in the mirror!

How easy. Right there in your bathroom. You are full of experiences. Look at you and look around you. Your hopes, dreams, aspirations. You are SO MUCH MORE THAN WHAT LOOKS BACK AT YOU IN THE MIRROR. Visit your internal world for priceless ideas.

5.Movies, Books, TV, Anything..

Imagine this.. the re-creation of a scene from a Jeffery Archer (UK) novel : two champion snooker players play-off for a $50,000 dollar prize necklace. True Story from 1988. A very posh party in the south of England — I got to see the jeweler’s invoice while working as an accounts clerk. I was captivated. Hit Blockbuster and let your idea brain off the leash!! Talk about kids in a candy store.

6.OPP

That’s Other Peoples Parties. One you get invites to and ones you don’t. Great to go to public places and see what happens, especially during a weekend. Suss out the food, lay out, cakes, the things that work and don’t work.

7.Internet

BE AWARE!!! Yes, somewhat down the list and a fabulous resource. BUT, BUT, BUT it can OVERWHELM, confuse and waste your time. Treat it with a firm stick, you be the master and set some guidelines around time and what you’re searching on. Search engines are very specific these days, you be as well.

8.People Watching

Just being in society means we interact with people. Watch out for what they say, how they are with each other and what they seem to enjoy. You can gather a whole lot of ideas that relate to you and your friends or family by watching other peoples’ friends and families.

9.Ask heaps of questions

A general fact finding tip. Ask discretely and then LISTEN attentively. Develop a genuine interest and ask with openness. You will be amazed at what people will tell you.

10.Music

In a class of it own. Songs are merely representation of peoples thoughts and

feelings. In short, ideas in musical form. What a great place to start mining for ideas — YOUR MP3 Player!! You have your own birthday idea generator around your neck!

Ok, I’ve got an idea, now what ?

By going back to your hard copy birthday idea generator and adding a few notes you then turn them into valuable commodities.

Answer the following questions as part of your notes is a good start:

What is the idea?

When could I use it?

Who would I need to help with it?

Why this idea?

The bonus in it for you is that you do it as you go through your life. Short, sharp and over time it builds to a valuable resource of celebration planning ingredients.

No more: “I don’t have any ideas…” You’re overflowing with them! And like seeds in the ground, ideas grow, flower and make more ideas.

Here’s a even bigger BONUS in it for you. As you’ve gathered your ideas, the bits you add, the thoughts you jot down are all brushed with your personality. You 100%.You will be drawn to the kinds of things that you find appealing and most likely so do your friends.

Sure, you are gathering other peoples art or method, but you mix them up and create you own unique, totally authentic recipe.

Here is the key. Those ideas that you are drawn to…

..these ideas are the most comfortable thing to work with and the ideas that stand the greatest chance of success.

Get it ?

One last TIP…

A good idea farmer goes back to their field and prepares the soil, nurtures it and refines their methods. For you, read over your “ingredients” make sure you add to them and be ready when an even better idea “pops”. It will!

Happy 25th Birthday, Mac - A Quarter Century With the Macintosh

Happy 25th Birthday, Mac - A Quarter Century With the Macintosh
By Scott McQuarrie

I’ve got a friend who has worked on the Macintosh computer since “before day one,” as he puts it. Seems he worked at a think tank in Palo Alto, heart of Silicon Valley, and saw the “two Steves” (Jobs and Wozniak) bring a prototype in to show to some folks who’d been influential in the design. People like Andy Hertzberg and Bob Metcalfe (the latter invented Ethernet).

My friend, whom we will call “EJ,” has been waxing nostalgic of late over the spate of “Mac’s 25th Birthday” articles in both the tech and popular press. It brought to his mind the incredible advances made, not just in the Mac world but the tech universe as a whole. I thought I’d share his recent “love letter” to the Mac that he distributed this past week. To get around having to put in quote marks or make the whole thing italics, I will separate his story with a dashed line, because I will be back after the tale with a closing remark or two.

- - - - - - - - - -
As soon as I saw that first, little Macintosh box, the 128K model, I was hooked. What’s this funny thing? I wondered, looking at what now seems like a quaint antique, the first Mac mouse. Wow! Hooked!

I used other people’s (and companies’) Macs for the first year, then bought the first model that would support an external hard drive, the Plus. As I recall, it listed at $1799. This little beauty had an 8MHz 68000 Motorola CPU, a high-density (1.44MB) floppy drive and a 9-inch monochrome screen - but it did have a SCSI port! I attached a 20MB hard drive from Seagate that cost me $800.

I used that same little Mac for almost ten years. In fact, when I took it back to Boston for a managing editor gig with a political magazine, I brought it with me. When the mag’s punched-paper-roll Atex publishing system went down, we put out a few 44-page issues of a four-color magazine with it, using Aldus PageMaker software (which was at version 2 or 3, I believe). It was a real workhorse, although today you can carry more computing power on your wrist with a “smart watch.”

Just consider the advances in 25 years. I now work on both PCs and Macs (as I always have), and the 24-inch iMac I have runs at 2.16GHz and can do just about anything - for $600 less that the Mac Plus. For extra storage, I just bought a 2TB Firewire 800 hard drive, for about $300. Here’s the math on the hard drive progress: It has 100,000 times the storage capacity of my first hard drive, for less than half the price. If anyone wants to know what capitalism does, this is a sterling example.

It is fun to read the 1980’s and 1990’s Mac magazines (or any tech mags, actually) to remind myself what was being predicted for the future that has now arrived. No one prognosticated very well, actually. The present crop of touch-screen PDA’s and miniature netbooks and WiFi devices up the wazoo - no one had a clue. Therefore, I don’t trust anyone, least of all myself, to make any predictions about where this is all going. I am happy just to be along for the ride.

- - - - - - - - - -
EJ loves his tech stuff, that’s for sure. I have a rather different relationship with computers, viewing them as tools, but have just as much respect for the minds that make them as anyone else. I simply cannot imagine going back to “the old ways,” with manual entry bookkeeping, page layout with waxers and paste-up boards, all that laborious stuff. No thanks!

As EJ says, we can’t even begin to know what lies around the corner. It’s hard enough keeping up with the things that we know about, much less all the things happening just under the surface. A few things are clear, though. Technology keeps getting more powerful even as it gets cheaper and more widespread. As for the effects? I will leave that to the sociologists - or maybe my next article!

- - - - - - - - - -

After founding his first security firm in 1990, Scott McQuarrie built several security-related companies into regional and national powerhouses over the ensuing years. Since 2000 he has focused his sales and marketing efforts on the Internet, which opened up a virtually unlimited, international market for his flagship product line, EZWatch Pro.

The EZWatch Pro brand has come to stand for world-class expertise in electronic security, video surveillance and the myriad technologies involved in both fields. From small houses to gigantic international airports, there is an EZWatch Pro solution to meet any and every residential, business, commercial and government security challenge.

80th Birthday Party Ideas - A Great Time to Walk Down Memory Lane

80th Birthday Party Ideas - A Great Time to Walk Down Memory Lane
By Dee Schrock

Great 80th Birthday Party Ideas can be any type of theme, although many people like to do something along the lines of “walking down memory lane.” Use this time to remember special people and events, enjoy some good humor, and celebrate upcoming plans. Keep the atmosphere jovial.

If you are renting a hall or lounge, decorate it with a Hawaiian theme or an Irish pub theme, and hire some entertainment for the evening. It could be a small band or a piano player that knows all the old favorites.

Dance schools are always happy to provide experience for their students and entertainment for you if you want Irish dancers, or even Hawaiian dancers. Older people do not need to have a huge amount of activities to do when it comes to a party; lights, a bit of good food, entertainment and the chance to talk with friends is always appreciated.

These parties are not usually as long as parties for younger people as seniors are often early risers and early to bed. A party that begins around three or four in the afternoon and runs no later than nine or ten is usually a good time that can be enjoyed by all.

Regardless of whether or not you will be having a formal sit-down or a casual affair, at some point someone will want to present gifts to the honoree and/or make a presentation or speech. Be sure to host the party in a room where there is plenty of room for everyone, and where the everyone can sit comfortably. If the party is very large, consider using a microphone so all can hear. Give your guest of honor a great send-off to their next year’s birthday party!

Birthday Party Entertainment - Three Danger Signs You Should Watch For!

Birthday Party Entertainment - Three Danger Signs You Should Watch For!
By Malachai Goodman

Hiring birthday party entertainment is a big decision! A good entertainer can make a mediocre party seem extraordinary! A bad entertainer can bring down even the most well planned event.

Chances are you’re going to spend a fair amount of your budget on entertainment. Unfortunately, it can be hard to tell up front who’s a seasoned pro and who is trying to make a quick buck off unsuspecting parents!

Here are a few warning signs you should look out for when hiring a professional entertainer.

Lack of Response to Emails and Phone Calls
A true pro who makes their living off of entertainment is going to want your business. It’s reasonable to expect a response back to any inquiry within 24 hours. If your entertainer is out of the office they should note this on their voicemail and set an “Out of Office” response on their email.

Professional people behave in professional ways. No business professional in the real world would leave voicemails and emails unanswered for any length of time. It’s acceptable to expect that level of professionalism from your birthday party entertainment.

Bad Grammar / Text Message Speak in Emails
This should go without saying, but any written communication from your entertainer should be free of major grammar and spelling errors. Nobody’s perfect, but it should look like they at least attempted to use spell check before clicking send.

One of the worst offenses we’ve seen in recent years is “text message speak”. I actually saw the following in an email sent from an entertainer to a friend of mine planning their kids birthday party.

“LOLz! How RU? We gonna have G00d Timez at ur kidz PAR-TAY! ;-) ;P”

Emails don’t have to be Pulitzer Prize material, but they should at least be legible and professional.

No Formal Contrac
Every professional entertainer uses formal contracts. These protect both sides by clearly outlining what is or isn’t expected. If you see an entertainer working without a contract, it probably means they aren’t professionals.

Don’t be surprised when your entertainer requests a deposit at well. They aren’t trying to make your life intentionally difficult. Veteran entertainers tend to learn from experience quickly. You should see these as positive signs that you’re bringing on an entertainer with experience!

Next, check out the fantastic 12 Step Guide over at http://www.birthdaypartyplan.com. It contains more information about birthday party planning, including information on hiring birthday party entertainment!

Birthstone Jewelry Is A Great Meaningful Birthday Gift

Birthstone jewelry is a great meaningful birthday gift by Michele the Jeweler

Historically the birthstone jewelry has been used by many cultures all over the world. There are many stories revolving around the origins of birthstone jewelry. It is believed that the birthstones were first worn by the breastplate of the Jews priest. The 12 gemstones are associated with the months of a year or with each of the Zodiac signs. In Kansas, the National Association of Jewelers compiled the modern version of gemstone list, accepted in US, in the year 1912.

It is widely assumed that birthstones bring good fortune and luck to all the individuals who wear them. The birthstone jewelry also reflects the personality of its holders. By giving away the birthstone associated gemstone jewelry as gifts you can guard somebody and symbolize the month of his or her birth.

While carefully choosing the birthstone jewelry as a gift for someone you love, you should be aware of the month of his or her birth, to make it meaningful. The birthstones are uniquely associated with months and planets, such as, deep red Garnet from africa for January, the royal purple Amethyst found in africa and brazil for February, the sparkling waterlike beryl Aquamarine for March, starlike Diamond for April which in nature comes in a rainbow of colors, rich green Emerald a beryl gemstonefor May, the exciting color changing Alexandrite found only in the mountains of russia and Moonstone for June, the queen of all gems blazing red Ruby for July, spring green Peridot for August, the royal blue shade of Sapphire for September, the blazing rainbow colors of Opal or Pink Tourmaline for October, the golden shades of precious Topaz and the golden quartz Citrine for November, Zircon and the popular native american gemstone Turquoise for December.

By gifting the birthstone jewelry you are also ensuring peace and bright luck of the person who wears them. You can combine the gift of birthstones in necklaces, rings, bracelets or in any other form so that the stones can touch the body well. Many people prefer to wear birthstones to protect them from the planetary effects on economy, health, study, relationships etc. With a wide variety of choice in the designs and colors, birthstone jewelry has now become a style and fashion statement among youngsters

Entertainment And Birthdays At Disneyland

Entertainment And Birthdays At Disneyland by suegold

There is always something to see or do at Disneyland, but Disneyland adds to this with nightly entertainment during the peak season, and weekend entertainment during the off-season. There is also special entertainment during special occasions, such as the Fourth of July and Christmas.

Fantasmic is held twice each night during the peak season, and on weekends during the off-season. The show takes place on Tom Sawyer’s Island, and features many characters, music, and fireworks. For the best seating possible, purchase tickets for Fantasmic in advance, but note that free seating is also available, and is included in your Disneyland
park admission price.

The Parade of Dreams features large colorful floats accompanied by many Characters. This parade takes place twice each day. During the parade, the entire parade will stop three times to do a choreographed show, and most of the Disney Characters are portrayed in the Parade of Dreams.

In the Fantasyland Theater, you can see a musical of Snow White. This show is held several times throughout the day. This show should not be missed – especially if you love Snow White. Since the show is held several times each day, reservations are not necessary.

These are just a few of the shows that are available at Disneyland. Again, entertainment is an ongoing thing at the park, with each day bringing something new. One thing that you can definitely count on, of course, is the fireworks! The fireworks show is held late each night – before the park closes for the day.

Even if you can’t stay for the fireworks, you can probably see them out of your hotel window! Try to get a view of the Fireworks from in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle for the greatest effect. The fireworks on the Fourth of July are out of this world.

To find out if there are any special shows or events during the time that you will be at Disneyland, visit the website, call the park, or ask your travel agent to find this information out for you. You may also want to inquire about special events during specific months, so that you can plan your stay at Disneyland for those days.

Most entertainment is provided free of charge, and is part of your admission price. However, special seating, or priority seating usually requires a fee, as well as a reservation. Some events require an admission price that is separate from your park admission. Again, check the website, call the park, or discuss events and fees with your travel agent when planning your Disneyland vacation.

Celebrate Birthdays At Disneyland

If you want to celebrate your birthday, or the birthday of a child at Disneyland, you can easily do this – and it doesn’t even have to be done on the exact date of birth! Start celebrating by going to City Hall, which is located in Town Square, upon your arrival to Disneyland. Here, you will receive a Birthday Sticker or button. This sticker tells everyone on at Disneyland that you are to receive special treatment.

On your birthday celebration day, make sure that you eat in one of the full service restaurants, and that you order the Birthday Bucket. It will be full of Disney treats, and it includes a cake. This costs around twenty dollars. Eat breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen and you can get a Birthday Bag for five dollars.

There are many ways to enjoy your birthday at Disneyland. You will receive special treatment from all of the Disney Characters in the park. This can be a memorable birthday celebration for you or your child – so make sure you take lots of pictures, and don’t be shy about telling people who work at the park that it is your birthday – if they don’t notice your sticker!
