Birthday Cards - Right Selection Is Important

Birthday Cards - Right Selection Is Important
By CD Mohatta

All of us are becoming immune to the joy of birthdays. Unless it is our birthday, we show no interest in others to a great extent. Most of us have a list of friends and family members and on their birthday, we search the Internet, pick up an ecard and send it. Our duty is over. If by mistake, we miss the birthday, we will send a belated birthday wishes card. How do we expect to develop and maintain close relations with this kind of approach? Birthday cards can cement any relationship beyond imagination. Please use this occasion to do that. Every birthday comes only once a year. Don’t be sloppy on that day. Be alert and you will get great friends for life. Let us find out more about the magic of birthday cards.

Take the example of your birthday. You open your mailbox and find many ecards or cards sent to you. You begin clicking one after another. One card attract s you very much. After that all other cards for your birthday are forgotten except that one birthday card. Will you not remember the sender with great affection? Will you not love that person for his/her care in selecting a very good ecard and sending it to you? Will you not remember this card till your next birthday and look for the ecard sent by the same person first? That is the difference we make with small details and care.

Small things matter a lot. For us there is only our birthday that is important. For others it is their birthday. On that day, they feel joy. You have to add to that joy with your actions. Put little more effort in selecting the right birthday card and use it to enhance your bond. A small card can make a big difference. You will win a friend for your lifetime. Please pay attention to what others want, and you will get what you want from them.

Increasing Redundancies Inspire Me to Buy a Very Useful Birthday Present

Increasing Redundancies Inspire Me to Buy a Very Useful Birthday Present
By Sarah Maple

For my Dad’s birthday, I offered to pay for him to do a Bachelors online degree through an online university. I know that he has been increasingly worried by the recent redundancies that have been going on at his company. Anyone who has not been performing a vital role for the business has been culled like a fluffy while Canadian seal pup and everyone is nervous. With huge businesses all over the country going bust and more redundancies being announced on the news each day it’s no surprise that people are getting nervous.

I know that he would feel better if he were doing something that would improve his chances of being kept on in the company. Even if he were let go then he would have a better chance of finding another job if he adds to his qualifications. Dad never went to university and he didn’t stay at school for his O levels. Although he is incredibly intelligent he has been a salesman all his life, preferring to be out ‘in the thick of things’ as he puts it, rather than sitting behind books in a classroom.

It’s not overly expensive to do an online course, especially when you compare it to the price that UK universities charge to attend. I can easily afford it and I feel that it would be a much better and more useful present than the cashmere socks that YOU magazine is urging me to buy. This is the year of thriftiness, not throwing twenty pound notes away on socks.

I looked carefully into home learning the degrees that are available online. You have to be careful that you go for a well-respected organisation and not just anyone trying to take your money. Watch out for any websites that don’t have a phone number that you can call in order to speak to someone in person. Also don’t pay any money upfront until you are 100% happy with what you are paying for. Find out how many lectures and how much work you will be set, what qualifications you will gain and who the accrediting bodies are. Research the accrediting bodies independently to establish if they do have links to the organisation and make sure to enquire about their professional reputation.

Many people can be wary about buying anything online. With the scandal of online bought degrees it is understandable that individuals are reluctant to even look into the possibility of Internet related learning. It can also be off-putting for people with limited experience of computers who find out the majority of learning will be done over the Internet. Technology has improved greatly in the last ten years and it doesn’t take long to pick up how to use a state of the art laptop or computer. I know the computer that my dad has bought for the course was great value, now he has something to play solitaire, e-mail and look at his digital pictures on as well as earning a degree. Even including the cost of the computer the course is still cheaper than traditional on campus learning!

By CD Mohatta

The days when everything was free on the Internet are slowly becoming history. Today if you want something good, you have to pay on the Internet. You can still get beautiful birthday ecards that are free and some times better than paid ecards. Let me tell you how to select them.

Make a quick search for birthday ecards on a good search engine. Click on some websites and read the terms carefully. Are the ecards totally free or it is only for a trial period. Select websites that offer totally free.

JPG and Flash Birthday ecards - don’t send JPG ecards. They are one of the earliest designs and the better ones are available only in flash. Use flash ecards of decent size. Don’t take very small size. JPG ecards have one advantage that the user need not have flash player on his/her computer. But with popularity of flash designs most of the users are having flash players on their computers.

Design Selection - Use designs that look decent and are light eight. ecards filled with many animations look over crowded and don’t look good. Go for subdued designs.

Free Birthday ecards are a boon for Internet users. You save money on burying printed cards, paying for postage and the labor of posting them. Free birthday ecards can be sent with a single click and cost nothing. What more can you ask for in Free Birthday Ecards?

Important Bakery Tips For a Birthday Cake

Important Bakery Tips For a Birthday Cake
By Ray Flores

Kids are extremely fond of birthday and other cakes. They wait the whole year for their birthdays to come in order to get their much loved, yummy cakes ordered exactly in accordance with their own suggestions and choices.

So, at this extraordinary time of your child’s birthday, get them a very unique birthday cake; one of their own preference, with the beloved cartoon character, super heroes, landscapes or other such stuff. Let them be really excited with their most wanted edible and be prepared to rock the merrymaking!

And yes…why not do something extra exceptional this time? Let’s bake the cake our self! Isn’t it a great suggestion, folks? Baking a cake in a professional way might seem to be rather unfeasible thought, though it is nothing of that sort, really! What is required at this moment is just taking care of certain important factors while baking it, and you are for sure going to get the party go bonkers over the delicious, mouth-watering and attractive cake.

Technically speaking, the cake-baking recipes have gone a huge change from the time they were first started to be made. Although a little alteration has taken place in the form of its ingredients, but it was capable of bringing a big change in its consistency, taste and quality; and that is, the shift from active yeast to whipped cakes. When starting to bake the cake, remember to add half a tablespoon of soda bicarb to 200 gram of flour which should be of a good quality.

Basically a cake should be thoroughly blended with butter or margarine and sugar in the mixture of yet again thoroughly blended flour and egg-whites and yolks, both before baking. The clever way of baking a cake is to carry out the whole thing meticulously and to put in as much air to the combination as doable. Carry out this process energetically and wait for the cream to turn pastel and velvety; since this blend actually is supposed to be lighter from the time it was first begun.

Take a bowl for mixing all the ingredients of the cake so that no lumps are formed and do not forget to do the blending quite forcefully for a better result. And remember a very key tip here; that is, stir all these elements in an up and down motion and never in a circular movement. This will allow the cake to be filled in with added and extra air necessary for the cake to raise light and soft.

The last, but not the least, is the time-factor; that is after you have finished douching all the cake ingredients together, please take care not to take much time for putting it into the oven as the mixture has a lot of air in it and the soda bicarb stars to get converted to carbon dioxide quickly, which is not desirable here. Heat the mixture for about an hour or so and just wait for your delicious cake to come out soft and high!

Birthday Party Entertainment - Watch For These “Deadly Sins!”

Birthday Party Entertainment - Watch For These “Deadly Sins!”
By Malachai Goodman

When planning your child’s birthday, you’ll quickly discover that there are a billion entertainment options available. Let me get something out of the way up front. They are NOT all created equal!

Many folks seem to be under the delusion that entertaining children is simple and requires little or no skill. They’re wrong. Entertaining children is a very specialized talent that takes years to develop. Like anything, it’s hard work. You need someone who truly cares about children and has taken the time to develop their craft.

Unfortunately, there’s no way of qualifying a children’s entertainer. Just about anyone looking for a fast dollar has hung out their shingle. The last thing you want is to bring on someone who’s looking for “easy money”.

Here’s a few ways to tell whether a potential performer is a real pro or not. This goes for all kinds of children’s entertainers, including clowns, magicians, and balloon twisters.

Do they Respond to Your Inquiries Promptly?
If the entertainer is a true professional, you’ll hear back from them in 24 hours or less. If they respond via email, check for major grammar or spelling errors. True professionals spell check every email before sending it.

How Many Shows did they do Last Year?
Responsible business owners know their numbers. This is an answer they should be able to give you off the top of their head. If they won’t give you a straight answer they may be trying to conceal the fact that they’re new to the market. There’s nothing wrong with hiring an enthusiastic newbie, but they should be up front about their experience.

What does Their Website Look Like?
Modern business owners realize that their website is the “face” of their business. Any professional is going to want to put their best foot forward. If their website looks like it was designed in 1996, consider looking elsewhere.

Ask for Details About the Performance
If you’re hiring a balloon twister, ask what kinds of sculptures they make. If you’re hiring a magician, ask what kinds of acts they perform and what their audience participation is like. Get the idea? The point here is that any professional entertainer is going to be intimately familiar with the product they’re selling you. If they stumble on this point, move on.

When in Doubt, Ask for References
Be sure to qualify those references. Relatives and close friends don’t count. You want to hear from bona fide customers who were satisfied with the entertainment that was provided.

Hiring a good children’s entertainer can be a very rewarding and worthwhile experience. The extra time and effort you spend checking up on their credentials will ensure that your money isn’t wasted and your child’s party is a success.

How Can You Be Too Old For Birthdays?

How Can You Be Too Old For Birthdays? by Knight Pierce Hirst

I don’t understand people who think they’re too old for birthdays. Don’t they know there’s lots of people who’d love to be their age? Don’t they read the obituaries?

I tried to share my feelings about birthdays with my husband. Of course, any discussion about feelings with a man is a short discussion, but I told him the birthdays of people we love should be special days for us too. We should celebrate having these people in our lives. So far so good; but when I suggested we should celebrate by going out to dinner, John lost touch with his feelings.

I discovered the hard way that giving a surprise party for someone who’s stopped celebrating birthdays isn’t a good idea. It was like adding fuel to the fire. Worse, it was like adding crow’s feet to her eyes.

Having the guests wear black, giving a mortuary gift certificate as a present and putting her cake through the blender weren’t good ideas either. Maybe when she said she didn’t want cake because she was dieting - again, I shouldn’t have reminded her that it’s better to give than receive - especially when the cake is chocolate.

Then there was the gift. I’d bought a hand mirror and loosely covered the glass part with plastic wrap. “See”, I said, “it’s the mirror that’s wrinkled - not you”.

No more surprise parties, but some people say they don’t want presents. John said that once. When he opened his present and saw earrings, he was speechless. I had to explain that since he didn’t want anything, I’d thought he’d want me to have something I wanted. Later he was happy with cuff links.

My mother is one of those people who says she has everything she wants, but I figured out she said that to test me. No matter what a mother says, she wants a present. One year I gave her a lovely, large box. I explained since she had everything she wanted, she must need a place to put some of it.

I’ll never be one of those people. I squeeze every minute out of my birthday. If my birthday’s on a weekend, I want to celebrate all weekend. Unfortunately, fireworks and planes with banners aren’t in the budget; but when the car turns from a lemon back into a pumpkin, I know there’s only three hundred and sixty-four days until my next, not-yet-national celebration.

Romantic Birthday Ideas: How to Plan a Romantic Birthday

Romantic Birthday Ideas: How to Plan a Romantic Birthday by Leng Chun Hung

When your sweetheart’s birthday is just around the corner, you want to make it romantic and memorable. A birthday, like anniversaries, is a good occasion to relive your romance. If you are looking to impress your sweetheart with a romantic and memorable day, but remain clueless on how to plan a romantic birthday, here are some romantic birthday ideas to make the most of your celebration. Your sweetheart will love you all the more.

One of the nicest things someone can do for another person is to show appreciation. The most romantic birthday ideas are ones that offer some sentiment but also communicate a lot of appreciative elements. There are a number of different ways to show that you are thankful that you are involved with such a great person.

A wonderful approach to showing gratitude is to share notes of thoughtfulness or thanks. These romantic birthday ideas do require a lot of in depth thought and some may take a lot of time to produce but I have a trick that you might want to consider after considering the approach.

Write little notes that covey messages that are personal and ones that show gratitude and thoughtfulness on every day, which means 365 (yes, 366 in the case of leap years) times. Each little message is put on a small piece of paper that is folded and placed in a jar. These romantic birthday ideas are to be read each and every day for an entire year.

The person who receives the jar opens one note each morning or each evening throughout the entire year until the next birthday. The romantic birthday ideas are magnificent in that they are received every day for the entire year. This is a great approach to communicating thoughtful gratitude for someone you love dearly.

How about planning a weekend trip to Lake Michigan. If you plan at least a month ahead, you’ll be able to find some pretty competive airfares if you live far away. People do come from all over the world to visit this wonder of nature. Breathtaking views may be found all around the lake. Romantic restaurants abound. This idea is a knockout with anyone’s beloved!

For women, jewelry is always preceived as a gift and rubies, sapphires, emeralds and diamonds always top the list of gifts for wonderfully romantic birthday ideas. Birth stone rings are also nice. Do not be stingy. Purchase the best quality you can afford. Even a one-point diamond in gold earrings will move her to tears. Flowers are a absolute must!

Men are more difficult, but not impossible! There’s theatre, symphonies, ballet and opera if he is into these activities. Some guys who enjoy fishing would consider a day fishing together at the lake to be a very romantic birthday idea. So you just need to zero in on their favorite thing to do if they’re a more rugged kind of guy.

The most important thing to remember is to choose gifts and activities that show thoughtfulness on your part, so they know you really care.

Electronic Birthday Cards - Where Is The Sentiment?

Electronic Birthday Cards - Where Is The Sentiment? by Vicki Churchill

With peoples lifestyles becoming busier by the day, many are finding it difficult to fit in the things that really matter. Spending time considering a birthday card for someone shows that you have taken time to think what that person likes and have chosen a card accordingly.

However, these days with the internet at our fingertips it is far easier to send electronic birthday cards. Although electronic birthday cards are quick and easy to send I personally feel sending a card this way shows no sense of thought for the recipient.

There is nothing better than accepting a card that has been thoughtfully chosen, with words that mean something. Although time may be of the essence and electronic birthday cards seem like the easiest solution consider the sentiment and how much more grateful a person would be if they were to receive a handmade card rather than something they know has been put together in five minutes and with minimal effort.

Deciding to make a handmade card may seem like an endless task but there are ways and means to send something personal and unique in very little time. If the card is for a relative why not ask you children to draw a small picture each and simply add their pictures to a card base. You can then dress it up a little with an embellishment or two and hey presto you have a beautiful, personalised handmade card which the receiver will know the whole family have made an effort with.

Making a simple card using very few products will save time but the result will be personal. Spending a little time choosing the words will also show that you have thought about what you are sending.

Handmade cards do not have to be elaborate and take up all your time. Sometimes more is less and if you are pushed for time something I find very quick and easy to do is find a picture of the person in question, mat and layer it and simply attach it to the card. Simple, quick and easy but most importantly the card is personal.

If you have forgotten a birthday and have no other option but to use electronic birthday cards to ensure the card arrives on time, why not follow up by sending a belated handmade card to show how much you care and that you do have time to think about someone and spend some time creating something unique and personal to them.

Electronic birthday cards can be good fun if accompanied by a video or animated picture but I for one would much rather receive something through the post which I can physically open than to just open another email.

Give Color to Your Party With Blue Birthday Invitations

Give Color to Your Party With Blue Birthday Invitations by Trevor Mulholland

Parties are designed to be special - and if they’re not, they should be! Birthday parties should be especially memorable, and representative of the celebrant’s tastes and preferences. Birthday parties that have a theme end up being more memorable than most - character birthday parties, retro birthday parties, candle parties, paintball parties, and color-themed birthday parties among them. If your celebrant’s favorite color happens to be blue, having a blue theme for your party and your invitations is bound to be a hit. Blue birthday invitations should be part of the planning stage.

Blue may be a sad color, but it doesn’t have to be if you’re going to use it as a birthday theme. There are many shades of blue, after all - light, dark, somber and vibrant. If you’re using a blue color for your decor, giveaways and even your icing, you should use a light and happy shade of it. Blue birthday invitations are no exception.

Light-colored blue party invitations may still seem happy and light-hearted. Light blue and white are easy colors to mix and they could create a comfortable, easy atmosphere. Light blue being the most dominant color in an invitation made out of pastel colors would still make for a great blue invitation.

The choice of graphics also matter. Even if you want your invitation to be made out in monochrome, the pictures and clipart that you use would help a lot in setting the mood for your invitation. If you want your invitation to look fun, make sure to include balloons, cakes, gift boxes and even confetti made out in light blue colors. Glitter or blue foil is also an option - an invitation made of shiny blue material makes for a cheery invitation.

For invitations that have a more formal approach, feel free to use darker shades of blue. Dark may be offset with lighter neutral colors like gray, white or silver. Silver is especially elegant, so if you want a blue birthday invitation for an important event, such as a debut or a 50th birthday party, silver glitter, foil or ribbons would make for excellent additions to monochrome invitations.

A photo of the celebrant would also be a great addition to any invitation of any color scheme. Tone the shade of the blue coloring down to either the shade that the celebrant would most approve of, or a shade that best represents what the celebrant wants the party to feel like. Get the “mood” of the party right. This is always a mark of a good invitation.

And of course, the lettering also matters. Even with a blue coloring, you may control the mood of your blue birthday invitations - you can make it happy, sad, formal, informal, quirky or serious. It’s all up to how you make blue work for you.

How To Make Kid’s Birthday Invitations

How To Make Kid’s Birthday Invitations by Alison Palmer

Creating a birthday invitation for your kid’s birthday party is easy and affordable. Plus creating your own birthday invitations makes it even more meaningful for your child since you have taken extra effort in making his or her birthday even more special. You can make attractive birthday invitations that are even more beautiful compared to those commercially bought birthday cards by simply applying a few very simple desktop publishing and design principles. Simply follow these ten simple steps to make not only birthday invitations but also other types of greeting cards.

Here are the steps involved in creating birthday invitations:

1. Make sure to use an appropriate software

There are various software programs used for creating birthday invitations as well as other types of greeting cards. These include: PageMaker, InDesign, PhotoShop, and other professional desktop publishing software. However, if you are new to desktop publishing and your main concern is to create your very own birthday invitations or greeting cards, consumer software is an easier way to go. Be sure to familiarize yourself with some of the basic operations before you actually begin your project.

2. Better to pick a birthday invitation format

Before you actually decide on the kind of birthday invitation that you want to do, be it funny, serious, oversized, top fold, side fold, and even personalized, it is important that you have a vision of the design that you want to create. This can help you in speeding up the designing process of your invitations, even if you are using templates straight from the software.

3. Try to set up an invitation document

If you are going to use a blank template or wizard for the style of birthday invitation you want, use it to set up your birthday invitation. You may also create a layout from scratch using your desired size. For a top or side-fold card, printed on letter size paper, it is best to create a folded dummy and then mark the front, inside front, message area then finally the back of the greeting card.

4. Choose the graphics for your birthday invitation

If you prefer to have a simple birthday invitation it is easier to stick with one image or a few simple icon-like figures. If you prefer to use less realistic clipart, you may end up with a more cartoonish appearance. Unleash your creativity and make use of color and lines. All of these contribute to the overall style of the birthday invitation. Likewise, mix and match images that share a similar style.

5. Modify the images

There are some graphics that work without modification but requires simple changes in terms of size and color that can improve any birthday invitation layout. You can also use color and frames or boxes with dissimilar images in order to come up with a more unified appearance.

6. Select a font that would best suit your birthday invitation

Chose your font to best suit the type of invitation you’re sending out.

7. Arrange text and graphics

Play about with the text and graphics until you find a layout that works best with your chosen graphics and font style and size.

8. Create consistency in the look and feel of your birthday invitation.

Try to keep your invitation simple with clean lines for maximum effect. Too many conflicting styles, fonts and pictures look messy and can detract from the actual purpose of the invitation.

9. Add a credit line

Put a credit line on the back of your created birthday invitation. You may place your name to show that you were the one who took the effort in creating the birthday invitation that they are now admiring.

10. Proofread and print your birthday invitations.

It is important to do a final proofread before printing your birthday invitation on an expensive specialty paper.
